FOOD IS NOT MEDICINE!  IN FACT,

“ALL FOODS ARE Challenging”

 [trx_image url=”https://www.a2ndopinion.co/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Food-Medicine.jpeg”]

Our food should be our medicine and our medicine should be our food.’ The ancient Greek physician Hippocrates is frequently cited in foodie and natural health circles for his quote (http://www.azquotes.com/author/22138-Hippocrates).
The admonition that Food is Medicine is seen and heard again and again, but is this really true or accurate?

Throughout human history, food has been consumed for the nourishment and building of the body.  While there are exceptions in which some foods are used for therapeutic value – such as some raw fruits and vegetables that help break down crystal buildup in conditions such as gout or kidney stones, the general rule is food is nourishment.  Food is nutritional, food is satisfying to our primal needs, but food is not medicine.

Actually, food is potentially more pathogenic rather than therapeutic.  It literally can’t be eaten and taken directly into the bloodstream without killing us.

All foods are poisonous to all people.  Food is absorbed and processed through the liver via a special circulatory feature called the portal circulationThe portal circulation generally takes a large portion of our absorbed food and shunts it through the liver to be detoxified and ready for use by the bodyWithout this special circulatory feature we couldn’t survive and eat the foods that are commonly available on the earth.

“WHEN THERE IS A DYSFUNCTION OF THE DIGESTIVE PROCESS AND SOME FOOD STUFFS LEAK THROUGH”

Other components of the digestive system, like the lacteals and others, regulate the absorption of food components into the blood.  When there is a dysfunction of the digestive process and some food stuffs leak through – no matter the amount – our immune systems react to produce mucous, hives, sneezing or coughing, depending on which mechanism is chosen to defend against the invader.

Additionally, we have more incidences and episodes where certain foods should be avoided, minimized, or taken with caution. They have potential venomous effects from

the food generally or your personal susceptibility as an individual to that food.

“THE BEST THING TO KNOW ABOUT FOOD IS THAT THE MORE WE ENJOY A FOOD THE MORE EFFICIENTLY IT IS DIGESTED.”

This is especially true when foods
generate sensations of pleasure.  Also, it takes a wi
de variety of substances from
the earth to build our bodies.  As an example, many of the things that we may call bad choices of food today were most likely consumed by most of us during our upbringing.   Consider the fact that people from various parts of the world can eat substandard processed or powdered foods that s
till build and sustain life.  There’s a mystery to this that we’ll reveal in future articles.

However, much of our food supply has been changed by the use of various technologies that were intended to make food more abundant and attractive.  In the past twenty years, genetic engineering, cross-species modification, nanotechnology, growth hormones and increasing uses of pesticides, herbicides, drying agents and ultraviolet light, have altered some of our foods.

“THESE ‘MODERN’ FOODS MAKE IT MORE PROFOUNDLY EVIDENT THAT FOOD IS NOT mEDICINE.”

There are documented cases of disease from eating these modified foods – such as allergic responses, infertility and cancers. In addition, many different microbes have been added in abundance to the food system.  These “modern” foods make it more profoundly evident that food is not medicine.

The medicines of nature are not foods, but herbs.  In many traditions, herbs are ordained to be used as medicine.  Physiologically, compounds from herbal plants can have a therapeutic and beneficial effect upon the body.
Traditional medicinal herbs such as purslane, sorrel, garlic, burdock, buckthorn, comfrey, arnica, calendula – to name but a few – and their effects have been catalogued, preserved and successfully applied for millennia.

Most of the health conditions generated by foods are often corrected by herbs, minerals, salts and other substances that are not considered foods.

So, the next time you hear “food is medicine” re-phrase it with the following facts:

  • There are more diseases of consumption than there are evidences of cures from the food realm.
  • Making better informed food choices can improve your health, but not cure disease. We can’t name any disease that food can cure.  If we make better informed food decisions, such as avoiding yeast, GMOs and other chemicals in food then we are likely to be better nourished and more able to withstand disease or poor health conditions.
  • Eat what you truly enjoy and desire, for this has the greatest potential to nourish your body. And soul!

Look to Nature’s herbs as your medicine – as Hippocrates also said: The physician treats, but nature heals ( http://www.azquotes.com/quote/816352 )

Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the net the easiest thing to be
aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people
think about worries that they just do not know about.

You managed to hit the nail upon the top as
well as defined out the whole thing without having
side effect , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more.
    Thanks
